Clift was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor that same month for The Search. He got the extremely successful film career, performing around numerous Oscar-nominated roles & becoming the matinee idol for his expert looks. His love scenes sustaining Elizabeth Taylor around A Place In The Sun (1951) set a standard for romance within cinema. His signature roles were George Eastman inside The Place in the Sun (1951) & Prewitt inside From Here To Eternity (1953). So he was off a screen for Tetrad years, until Raintree County in 1957. Astonishingly, Clift was nominated for the better supporting actor Oscar for Judgment at Nuremberg in a role that single took higher septenary proceedings of screen period. However his guilt above his hidden homosexuality led to alcoholism and drug use.
